Plesk is a web hosting management software used by the University to enable simple administration of personal websites for both staff and students. Staff can use the service for material that may not fit into Moodle or the University's marketing pages. Students can use the service for project work. The University has both Linux and Windows Plesk servers so you will need to select the appropriate option when requesting a site.

However, if you are a userweb address owner, for example http://userweb.port.ac.uk/~yourname, this will change to http://username.myweb.port.ac.uk. In both cases the physical address of the host will have changed and any direct references to ‘Betel’ or Betel’s IP address must be changed in the coding to reflect the new system.

The website owner is responsible for it’s content and maintenance. Information Services (IS) provide the infrastructure for the customer to deliver their information. However, should an issue with the web contents functionality be caused by the transfer, IS will assist to the best of their abilities.
