Funding available from Student Finance England

This page will provide an overview of the funding currently available from Student Finance England for eligible full-time undergraduate students ordinarily resident in England.

Tuition Fee Loan

Tuition fees in 2021/22 are £9,250. You can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover your fees. This loan is not income-assessed and is paid directly to the University.

Maintenance Loan (Post 2016 starters)

The maximum maintenance loan if you are living outside of your parental home is £9,488 but the exact amount available to you will depend on where you live whilst studying and your assessed household income. To qualify for this loan you must be under the age of 60 on 1 September in the year your course began.

Maintenance Loan (pre 2016 starters)

The maximum maintenance loan if you are living outside of your parental home is £6,802, the exact amount available to you will depend on where you live whilst studying and your assessed household income. To qualify for this loan you must be under the age of 60 on 1 September in the year your course began.

Maintenance Grant (only available to students who started prior to 2016)

This non-repayable grant is available to students with an assessed household income under £42,721. How much you will be eligible for will depend on your assessed household income. The maximum maintenance grant is £3,919.
