This article will provide you with the information on how your child is kept safe on outings.

Occasionally, the children may be taken to places of interest, e.g. the library, the park, or the harbour. Children will only go on outings with parents specific written permission. Parents will be informed in the week before or on the day of the outing.

Staff carry out written risk assessments before and during outings and abide by the Nursery’s Safeguarding procedure for keeping children safe when away from the Nursery.

Each adult takes a maximum of two children on the outing, thus maintaining a 1:2 ratio. Road Safety is practised with the children so that they learn to ‘Stop, Look and Listen’, and learn the dangers of traffic. Parents are sometimes invited to come on outings to ensure the correct adult to child ratio.
